Artsy Fartsy

I like to take pictures everywhere I go and use some of them for postcards to my friends as I travel. I am far from a professional, but the pictures I take are nice and I like them. I sometimes prefer the artsy fartsy shot but often the casual snapshot turns out just as artsy.

My favorite subjects are water (in just about any form from ice to clouds), sunsets, doors and windows. My favorite spot on Earth is Taos, New Mexico. The sunsets there are astounding every day of the year. The Taos area seems to be a magnet for artistic types from all over the world. As a result there are some amazing doors. My photo collection has grown quite a bit over the years. At first I didn't realize that there were themes running through all of my pictures. I was just shooting the sights. It was only in the last few years that someone pointed out to me what the most common elements were in my pictures.

The pictures on this page are only a few samples of my interests. If you have pictures you would like to share, please send them to me.

My taste in art is about as eclectic as my taste in houses. If I were forced to pick only one style it would be Southwestern Indian. But that is only because it would look best in the adobe style house I want to build in New Mexico for my retirement.

My favorite, all time greatest artist is Ed Morgan. I have loved his embossed paper and silk paintings for years, but only recently have I been able to actually afford to buy some for myself. His paintings reflect his strong connection with the spirit of the Indians of the Southwest.
